The offered themes about ancient Olympic Games in sports:<br />

• Rules in the ancient Olympic Games;<br />

• Olympic programs, origin of sports events, their<br />

development - the first Olympic Games, sports events and<br />

their development, sports equipment and its development,<br />

Opening and Closing ceremonies;<br />

• The most popular sports events in ancient Olympic Games<br />

– the competitions the spectators attended and watched<br />

most, characterization of sports events;<br />

• Sports facilities and places in ancient Olympia – venues of<br />

different events, their sizes and characterization, location<br />

of buildings and stadiums in ancient Olympia;<br />

• Winners of ancient Olympic Games and their awarding –<br />

the first Olympic champion, the most popular Olympic<br />

champions, many-times Olympic winners, awarding<br />

ceremonies, prizes of the first game winners and later;<br />

• The development of kinds of sport since the ancient<br />

Olympic Games - comparison of sports in ancient Greece<br />

and nowadays, changes in venues, equipment and<br />

execution technique since ancient Olympic Games.<br />

From the lists of themes we can see that basic knowledge about<br />

the ancient Olympic Games should be given in sports and history<br />

classes, however, in geography and literature we can find themes<br />

about these questions. In history classes this theme could be taken a<br />

deeper look at, in sports classes it should be told about athletes in<br />

ancient Greece, about kinds of sport and their development, about the<br />

most popular competition venues and about the Olympic Games. In<br />

geography, geographical places in Greece, connected with the<br />

Olympic Games, should be taken a look at, but in literature pupils can<br />

learn about the ancient Greek myths, heroes and gods, as well as<br />

reading Greek eposes they can learn about the life and occupations of<br />

ancient Greeks.<br />

If the teacher of every subject paid some attention to this theme,<br />

the pupils would improve their knowledge about the ancient Olympic<br />

Games.<br />

In conclusion I can say that Olympic education should be started<br />

with children, involving them in sport and educating their minds and<br />
