- Sport is not culture by itself but it is a combination of elements,<br />

such as pedagogical education, merits of competition, harmonious<br />

way of life, tradition, aesthetics etc. that contribute to various<br />

aspects of global and national culture of society.<br />

Comment: Sport should enhance society but different social values<br />

have to be taken into account.<br />

Recommendation: <strong>IOA</strong> has to engage a more constructive strategy in<br />

order to develop Olympic Education, mainly in the youth camps<br />

which take place during the Olympic Games.<br />

Question 2: Discuss the cultural parameters of the Olympic<br />

Games in relation to the organizing cities and countries.<br />

Key Parameters:<br />

1. Type (Arts, historical, customs/ethnicity, natural/physical world)<br />

2. Spatial (global to local)<br />

3. Time (over the Olympiad and during the running of the Games<br />

4. Audience (appropriate media/content to reach all audiences)<br />

Cultural parameters that host cities and countries should consider:<br />

Architecture, language, traditions, gastronomy, historical patrimony,<br />

music, dance etc.<br />

- Improvement of communication and friendship<br />

- Commercial, marketing and tourism advantages<br />

- Opportunity to promote own culture<br />

- Positive development of hosting cities (new facilities)<br />

- Cultural development of citizens<br />

- Enhancing public image and the beauty of a country<br />

- Emphasizing ethnical exposure<br />
