Cost <strong>and</strong> Electric Dem<strong>and</strong>s. The actual bidding price <strong>of</strong> the HVAC&R system for this project was<br />

approximately $9 million, or $8.57 per ft 2 ($92.2 per m 2 ) gross area. Compared with the originally<br />

proposed conventional <strong>air</strong> <strong>conditioning</strong> system using centrifugal chillers, the <strong>air</strong> system power input<br />

was reduced from 1679 to 1136 kW, <strong>and</strong> the electricity dem<strong>and</strong> dropped from 5960 to 4330 kW. The<br />

estimated total annual energy consumption per ft 2 gross area was 33,190 Btu/ft 2 �yr (105<br />

kWh/m 2 �yr).<br />
