Chasid wrote a note to the rebbe, putting down<br />

his request for health, income, children, matches<br />

for his daughters, or success in business.<br />

The gabbai gave the kvitl to the rebbe<br />

before the Chasid came into the room, the<br />

rebbe knew which request to bless. The chasid<br />

then bade the rebbe farewell and walked out<br />

with renewed faith.<br />

The next morning the Jewish carriages came<br />

again. The rebbe got into his carriage together<br />

with his assistant and they left, ushered out by a<br />

crowd of Chasidim. The town once more became<br />

workaday, drab; Shloyme Rayz again put on his<br />

flour-covered smock and went about his business<br />

at Grimatlicht's flour mill.<br />

"Ma Tovu Ohalecha . . . How good are thy tents, Jacob, thy dwellings, Israel." This<br />

sentence was engraved on the arches of the three huge windowssouthern side.<br />
