OBRAS COMPLETAS TOMO V 171 deseo inconciente que, durante el tratamiento, se hizo conciente, quedó enlazado, por la compulsión a asociar, con la persona de Freud, de la cual era lícito que la paciente se ocupara. Poco tiempo después (Freud, 1900a [1899]*) afi rma, en términos metapsicológicos, que la representación inconciente, incapaz de devenir conciente, transfi ere su intensidad sobre una representación preconciente que la encubre y que adquiere así una importancia inmerecida. En el historial de Dora describe las difi cultades creadas por “la sustitución de una persona anterior por la persona del médico” (Freud, 1905e [1901]*, pág. 101). Hay una transferencia, pues, de “falso enlace”, que se produce, en un “presente atemporal”, por el hecho de que la representación preconciente del psicoanalista es, entre todas las demás, la única que, durante el transcurso de la sesión, posee los signos de realidad que permiten diferenciar la percepción del recuerdo. Hay, además, una neurosis de transferencia que contiene la historia de la relación con el analista, como entretejido de falsos enlaces y contactos “reales”, ya que el analista también es, en alguna medida, un personaje real en la vida real del paciente. El analista de la neurosis de transferencia funciona, en la sesión, de un modo análogo a como funcionan aquellos personajes del relato que son objeto de una transferencia intensa y actual, como por ejemplo, en el caso de Dora, el señor K. Dado que la intensidad relativa de la transferencia en estos dos personajes (el analista y el señor K) varía, uno cualquiera de ellos puede, en el discurso de la paciente, encubrir al otro. Tanto la transferencia por falso enlace como la neurosis de transferencia provienen, en lo esencial, de la transferencia de los complejos inconcientes infantiles reactivados por la regresión que el encuadre y la interpretación producen. Es inevitable, sin embargo, que, en condiciones normales, nuestro conocimiento de la realidad se obtenga mediante la transferencia de un signifi cado extraído del conjunto de nuestras experiencias pasadas. Aunque ese signifi cado puede evolucionar liberándose cada vez más de sus componentes de compulsión a la repetición, sería inadecuado hablar, en ese caso, de una transferencia neurótica inicial, ya que constituye, como instrumento del conocimiento, un procedimiento normal. Es la transferencia que confi gura la alianza terapéutica con el psicoanalista y que interviene en el mantenimiento de un encuadre adecuado. Las posibilidades que ofrece la contratransferencia como instrumento técnico fueron profundamente estudiadas por Racker (1960), aunque los antecedentes ya se encuentran en Freud, quien no sólo escribe que “lo
