raporturilor dintre noua øi vechea destinaflie a sitului însuøi.
În Galeria Sabot, pictorul clujean Radu Comøa prezintæ proiectul Being Radu Comøa
landscape dotted with scraps left behind by the workers, photos
“with babes” and with footballers in the vestiaries, again the standing
old posters with labour protection. Nevertheless, the exotism
– pretty vulgar after all – built through this frivolous (and, inevitably,
somehow obscene) enactment of this type of images, with their condescending
allusions (under titter) to a certain social organization of
labour, pushes things into oblivion. It might be amusing (of course,
it is no bad-matter), but it is precisely the rampancy into aestheticization
that blocks any eventual problematization, for instance of the
relations between the old and the new destination of the site itself.
The glamour bonus resides in the impression that these images
would be exposed like the photos with beloved actors from the halls
of cinemas or theatres. And the presence of these photographs
might then be the more powerfully balanced by the paintings of Øerban
Savu, from his studio at the same floor, and which are, precisely,
unbound of this exotism. (For the works and the pictural reflection of
Savu, more in the “gallery” of the magazine’s previous issue.)
At present, there are five private galleries activating in the space of
the Paintbrush Factory, with different schedules, two show rooms,
one of them dedicated to theatre, 17 studios, and approximately 25
artists.
The Sabot Gallery. The local painter Radu Comøa presents the projects
Being Radu Comøa wherein he self-ironically reproduces – “falsifies”
– fragments from various paintings of some colleagues from the
artist’s circle and generation. The gesture reminds me of Gianni
Motti’s, whose work in a group exhibition consisted in a series of
photographs documenting the moment when the Italian artist was
