He was sentenced to a term in a labour army. Nothing more is known about<br />

him.<br />

Priest Michael Alexeyevich Kritsky was born in 1879, and in 1900 finished<br />

his studies at <strong>the</strong> Nizhegorod <strong>the</strong>ological seminary. In September, 1900 he<br />

was ordained to <strong>the</strong> diaconate, and in October – to <strong>the</strong> priesthood. He taught<br />

<strong>the</strong> Law <strong>of</strong> God in schools in <strong>the</strong> villages <strong>of</strong> Avtodeyeva and Teryaeva, and<br />

served in <strong>the</strong> Trinity church in Avtodeyeva, Ardatov uyezd, Nizhni<br />

Novgorod province. In October, 1914 he was appointed assistant to <strong>the</strong> dean<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> second Ardatov district.<br />

Fr. Michael was a priest <strong>of</strong> l<strong>of</strong>ty spiritual life. After <strong>the</strong> revolution he took<br />

upon himself <strong>the</strong> exploit <strong>of</strong> being a fool-for-Christ, collected money for <strong>the</strong><br />

Diveyevo sisters, and by his unusual words and actions prophesied <strong>the</strong><br />

future. He tore up anti-religious placards and portraits <strong>of</strong> revolutionary<br />

leaders.<br />

In 1919 he was arrested and cast into prison. On December 19, 1920 he was<br />

arrested in church immediately after a service and cast into prison in Ardatov.<br />

On March 30, 1921, as he was being transferred to a village in <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong><br />

Kulibaki, he was shot in a wood without trial or investigation. On April 7 he<br />

was buried next to <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Life-Giving Trinity to <strong>the</strong> right <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

altar. Many people came to his funeral, and his memory is preserved in his<br />

local church.<br />

In 1922, in connection with <strong>the</strong> confiscation <strong>of</strong> church valuables, 68 clergy<br />

<strong>of</strong> all ranks in Nizhni-Novgorod province were killed by <strong>the</strong> Bolsheviks.<br />

Priest Vladimir Karpinsky began to serve in <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Trinity<br />

in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Deyanovo, Nizhegorod province after <strong>the</strong> murder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> local<br />

priest, Fr. Stefan Nemkov. He was killed in 1923 by local communists during<br />

<strong>the</strong> Paschal liturgy.<br />

Seraphima Alexandrovna Aloyeva, <strong>the</strong> daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> repressed Reader<br />

Alexander Ivanovich Aloyev, was born in 1909 and arrested in 1927. Nothing<br />

more is known about her.<br />
