Priest Gregory Kondratyevich Denisov was born in 1872 in Pletnev-<br />

Shiryaevsky khutor, Staro-Grigoryevskaya stanitsa, Second Don district. He<br />

was a Russian Cossack. On September 3, 1930 he was arrested in<br />

Kumylzhensky region, Stalingrad province, and on November 3 was<br />

sentenced to death. He was shot on November 20, 1930.<br />

Priest Gabriel Vasilyevich Zakharov was born in 1895 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Mordovsky Shmalak, Khvalynsk region, Saratov province, and served in <strong>the</strong><br />

villages <strong>of</strong> Kizyatovka and Novaya Lopasteika, Saratov province. On October<br />

9, 1930 he was arrested for “anti-Soviet agitation among <strong>the</strong> believers”,<br />

although <strong>the</strong> real reason was that he refused to renounce God. After this <strong>the</strong><br />

church in <strong>the</strong> village was destroyed. On December 9, 1930 Fr. Gabriel was<br />

condemned to death. And on December 13 he was shot in Saratov.<br />

Priest Alexander Ivanovich Kipersky was born in 1886 in <strong>the</strong> city <strong>of</strong><br />

Khvalinsk, Saratov province, and served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Sergeyevka,<br />

Samoilovsky region, Saratov province. On November 16, 1930 he was arrested<br />

in Balandinsky region and accused <strong>of</strong> creating a kulak-clerical grouping,<br />

undermining enterprises in <strong>the</strong> village and spreading provocative rumours.<br />

On December 14 he was sentenced to death, and on December 19 he was shot.<br />

Protopriest Mat<strong>the</strong>w Ivanovich Karmanov was born in 1859 in Petrovsk,<br />

Petrovsky uyezd, Saratov province, and served in <strong>the</strong> ca<strong>the</strong>dral in Khvalynsk,<br />

Saratov province. In 1922 he joined <strong>the</strong> “Living Church”, but quickly repented.<br />

On August 30, 1929 he was arrested for “anti-Soviet agitation”, and on<br />

December 12 was shot in Volsk.<br />

Priest Gregory Vasilyevich Zamkov was born in 1893 in Samara district,<br />

and served in Voskresensky region, Saratov province. On October 7, 1930 he<br />

was arrested for “anti-Soviet agitation”, and on February 26, 1931 was<br />

sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Priest Demetrius Konstantinovich Klyucharev was born in 1891 in Penza<br />

province, and served in <strong>the</strong> city <strong>of</strong> Volsk. On December 12, 1930 he was<br />

arrested in <strong>the</strong> Voskresensky region <strong>of</strong> Saratov province for “anti-Soviet<br />
