manure. Now on <strong>the</strong> place <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> burial <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> twelve shot men <strong>the</strong>re is a small<br />

hillock, and some spikes from <strong>the</strong> fence have remained. There is no cross…”<br />

Priest Nicholas Pokrovsky was born in 1864, and was killed on March 18,<br />

1919 in Simbirsk province.<br />

Deacon Michael Mongolov was serving in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Karalat,<br />

Astrakhan uyezd, Astrakhan province. In 1919 he was convicted by <strong>the</strong><br />

Karalat military field tribunal created by <strong>the</strong> communists <strong>of</strong> being “a<br />

participant in a counter-revolutionary rebellion <strong>of</strong> peasants <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> village in<br />

March, 1919”. He was shot on March 25, 1919.<br />

Priest Seraphim Sarychev was shot after <strong>the</strong> paschal Liturgy at Gondatyevka<br />

station.<br />

Priest James Alexeyevich Dobrokhotov was serving in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Lesnoye,<br />

Sengileyevsky uyezd, Simbirsk province. On July 8, 1919 he was arrested and<br />

accused <strong>of</strong> “counter-revolutionary activity”. He was sentenced to death and<br />

was shot.<br />

Priest Michael Dmitrievich Dobrolyubov was born in 1862 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Pirzavka, Petrovsk uyezd, Saratov province. He was serving in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Varypayevka, Atkarsk uyezd, Saratov province. He was arrested on a charge<br />

<strong>of</strong> “anti-Soviet agitation among <strong>the</strong> believers”, and on July 9, 1919 was<br />

sentenced to be shot. On July 13 he was shot in <strong>the</strong> city <strong>of</strong> Atkarsk.<br />

Priest Averyan Spiridinovich Grishin was born in 1867 in Penza province.<br />

He was <strong>the</strong> president <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Union <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Archangel Michael. In February, 1919<br />

he was arrested, and on October 9 he was shot by <strong>the</strong> Saratov cheka.<br />
