Priest Alexander Semyonovich Agenosov was born in 1876 in <strong>the</strong> village<br />

<strong>of</strong> Ati, Mamadysh uyezd, Kazan province into <strong>the</strong> family <strong>of</strong> a priest. He went<br />

to a <strong>the</strong>ological seminary, and service in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Maly Sundyr, Gorno-<br />

Mariisk region. He was disenfranchised. On January 3, 1933 he was arrested<br />

fro being “<strong>the</strong> leader <strong>of</strong> a counter-revolutionary cell <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> church-monarchist<br />

organization, <strong>the</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Church”, and on June 8 was sentenced to<br />

three years’ exile and sent to <strong>the</strong> north. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Hieromonk Palladius, in <strong>the</strong> world Paul Yer<strong>of</strong>eyevich Stepanov, was born<br />

in 1863 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Kurkuly, Alexeyevsky uyezd into a peasant family,<br />

and received an elementary education. In 1883 he was tonsured in Seven<br />

Lakes Desert with <strong>the</strong> name Palladius. In 1893 he was ordained to <strong>the</strong><br />

priesthood. In 1928, after <strong>the</strong> closure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> monastery, he became priest in <strong>the</strong><br />

church <strong>of</strong> his native village, but from 1929 was serving needs at home. On<br />

April 7, 1931 he was arrested for being “a participant in a kulak-priest<br />

grouping”, and was sentenced to death with confiscation <strong>of</strong> property and<br />

exile <strong>of</strong> his family. On June 17 he was shot.<br />

Protopriest Paul Fedotovich Trifonov was born in 1869 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Zmievo, Chistopol uyezd. In 1891 he finished his studies at Kazan <strong>the</strong>ological<br />

seminary and was ordained to <strong>the</strong> priesthood. He served in <strong>the</strong> Rybno-<br />

Slobodsky uyezd, and from 1905 in <strong>the</strong> cemetery church in Chistopol. In 1914<br />

he was raised to <strong>the</strong> rank <strong>of</strong> protopriest. During <strong>the</strong> Civil War he went away<br />

with <strong>the</strong> Whites. In 1922 he was serving again in <strong>the</strong> cemetery church in<br />

Chistopol. On April 18, 1931 he was arrested for being “a member <strong>of</strong> a<br />

counter-revolutionary monarchist organization”, and on July 9 he was<br />

sentenced to ten years in <strong>the</strong> camps. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Hieromonk Plato (Vasilyevich Vasilyev) was born in 1878 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Pereputye, Chistopol canton into a peasant family. An invalid from birth, he<br />

was raised and lived until 1917 in <strong>the</strong> house <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> merchant Chukashev in<br />

Chistopol. In <strong>the</strong> 1920s his legs were paralyzed, and he could not walk; he had<br />

to be carried and looked after by acquaintances, among whom he was known<br />

as Elder Plato. He had no constant domicile and had to live on alms. He was<br />

<strong>the</strong> spiritual fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Fr. Michael Yershov. On March 7, 1931 he was arrested<br />

for being “a member <strong>of</strong> a counter-revolutionary monarchist organization”. On<br />

July 9 he was sentenced to death, and on July 12 he was shot.<br />

Priest Basil Ilyich Rozhdestvensky was born in 1868 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Savrushi, Bilyarskoye uyezd, and went to Kazan <strong>the</strong>ological seminary. He<br />

lived in Chistopol, serving in <strong>the</strong> Nikolayevsky church, and was supervisor <strong>of</strong><br />

church-parish schools. On October 27, 1923 he was brought to trial for “hiding<br />
