Ivan Yegorovich Kuritsyn was born in 1887, and suffered for <strong>the</strong> faith in<br />

Tataria, being shot on March 5, 1930.<br />

Priest Basil Nikolayevich Muravtsev was born in <strong>the</strong> 1880s or 1890s. He<br />

was educated at <strong>the</strong> Kazan Theological Academy, and became rector in <strong>the</strong><br />

city <strong>of</strong> Bugulma, Tataria. He was sent to Solovki and died at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

1920s or beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 1930s.<br />

Priest Constantine Vasilyevich Agrov was born in 1880 in Tataria. He was<br />

arrested on February 3, 1930 and condemned on March 19, 1930.<br />

Priest Paul Sergeyevich Ilyin, a Kryashen, was born in 1889 in <strong>the</strong> village<br />

<strong>of</strong> Yantsevary, Pestrechinsky region, Tataria, and lived in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Lyaki,<br />

Sarmanovsky region. On March 8, 1930 he was arrested, and on May 16 was<br />

convicted <strong>of</strong> “anti-collective farm religious agitation”. In accordance with<br />

article 58-10, he was sentenced to five years in <strong>the</strong> camps. Nothing more is<br />

known about him.<br />

Priest Basil Dmitrievich Dmitriev was born in 1871 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Mataki, Drozhzhanovsky region, Tataria. He was a Chuvash. On March 24,<br />

1930 he was arrested in his native village, and on May 16 was sentenced in<br />

accordance with article 58-10 to five years’ exile in <strong>the</strong> north for “anticollective<br />

farm agitation”. Nothing more is known about her.<br />

Alexandra Yefimovna Zaitseva (Tokareva) was born in 1861 in <strong>the</strong> village<br />

<strong>of</strong> Russkij Shugan, Muslyumovsky region, Tataria, and was <strong>the</strong> church<br />

watchman and prosphora-baker in her native village. On February 22, 1930<br />

she was arrested, and on March 17 she was convicted <strong>of</strong> being “a participant<br />

in an anti-Soviet grouping” and <strong>of</strong> “religious agitation against <strong>the</strong> enterprises<br />

<strong>of</strong> Soviet power: she spread rumours about a supposed <strong>holy</strong> fire in <strong>the</strong><br />

church”. In accordance with article 58-11 she was sentenced to death, but this<br />

was commuted to ten years in <strong>the</strong> camps. Nothing more is known about her.<br />
