by steamboat to Smylovka quay, from where she walked to Yelantovo in<br />

August. She went into hiding in Yamashi, Sheremetyevo, Novo-Sheshmino<br />

and Chistopol regions, living mainly with Pelagia Kionova, who acquainted<br />

her with members <strong>of</strong> her group. Her daughter visited her by night. In <strong>the</strong><br />

summer <strong>of</strong> 1946 she joined <strong>the</strong> group <strong>of</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Christians led by<br />

Hieromonk Philaret. She went to secret festal services at <strong>holy</strong> springs near<br />

Sheremetyevo, Yusupkino, Bilyarsk and Yelantovo forest, and also in houses<br />

in <strong>the</strong> villages <strong>of</strong> Kuzaikino, Maly Batras and Yusupkino. On August 30, 1948<br />

she was arrested, but refused to sign <strong>the</strong> protocols <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> interrogations. She<br />

was accused that: “being a participant in an illegal anti-Soviet organization,<br />

<strong>the</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Church, she conducted anti-Soviet activity, opposing <strong>the</strong><br />

enterprises <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Communist Party and <strong>the</strong> Soviet government. She <strong>of</strong>ten<br />

took part in illegal meetings <strong>of</strong> participants in <strong>the</strong> organization, where under<br />

<strong>the</strong> cover <strong>of</strong> religious rites anti-Soviet activity was discussed.” On November<br />

22, 1948 she was sentenced to twenty-five years in <strong>the</strong> camps with<br />

disenfranchisement for five years. On October 16, 1949 she was taken under<br />

convoy to Sevvostlag (Magadan). Nothing more is known about her.<br />

Yegor Fyodorovich Plekhanov was born in 1885 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Yelantovo, Sheremetyevo uyezd into a peasant family, and received an<br />

elementary education. A free peasant, on July 23, 1935 he was arrested in a<br />

group church case, and on February 14, 1936 was sentenced to four years in<br />

<strong>the</strong> camps. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Timothy Kharitonovich Plekhanov was born in 1888 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Yelantovo, Sheremetyevo uyezd into a peasant family, and received an<br />

elementary education. A free peasant, in 1934 he was arrested for hoarding<br />

and speculation in bread and was sentenced to eighteen months in <strong>the</strong> camps.<br />

He was released after eight months. On May 21, 1935 he was arrested in a<br />

group church case, and on February 14, 1936 was sentenced to ten years in <strong>the</strong><br />

camps. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Theodore Fyodorovich Plekhanov was born in 1897 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Yelantovo, Sheremetyevo uyezd into a peasant family, and received an<br />

elementary education. A free peasant, after dekulakization he had no fixed<br />

occupation. In July, 1935 he was arrested in a group church case, and on<br />

February 14, 1936 was sentenced to seven years in <strong>the</strong> camps. He was sent to<br />

Temlag, where he refused to work, and in 1939 was arrested for sabotage and<br />

sentenced to ten years in <strong>the</strong> camps. He remained in <strong>the</strong> same camp, from<br />

which he was released on September 16, 1948. On May 16, 1949 he was<br />

arrested again for belonging to “an anti-Soviet sectarian organization”, and on<br />

August 17 he was sentenced to a termless exile in Kazakhstan. He was sent to<br />

Petropavlovsk. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Vassa Fyodorovna Plekhanova was born in 1901 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Yelantovo, Sheremetyevo uyezd into a peasant family, and received an<br />
