Hieromonk Alypius (Ivanenko) was tonsured and ordained in <strong>the</strong> Myrrh-<br />

Bearers’ Desert. From September, 1921 he was working in <strong>the</strong> Myrrh-Bearers’<br />

workers’ artel. At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> 1923 he was arrested and accused <strong>of</strong><br />

“distributing religious literature and concealing church valuables”. On<br />

February 2, 1924 he was sentenced to six years in prison. Nothing more is<br />

known about him.<br />

Hierodeacon Eugene (Danilov) joined <strong>the</strong> Myrrh-Bearers’ Desert, was<br />

tonsured and ordained to <strong>the</strong> diaconate. From September, 1921 he was<br />

working in <strong>the</strong> Myrrh-Bearers’ workers’ artel. At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> 1923 he was<br />

arrested and accused <strong>of</strong> “distributing religious literature and concealing<br />

church valuables”. In 1924 he was sentenced to five years in prison. Nothing<br />

more is known about him.<br />

Hierodeacon Raphael (Vechkelev) was tonsured and ordained to <strong>the</strong><br />

diaconate in <strong>the</strong> Myrrh-Bearers Desert. He was <strong>the</strong> treasurer <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

community, and from 1921 – <strong>the</strong> accountant <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Myrrh-Bearers workers’<br />

artel. At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> 1923 he was arrested for “distributing religious literature<br />

and concealing church valuables”, and on February 2, 1924 was sentenced to<br />

four years in prison. After his release he served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Kivatskoye,<br />

Mordovo-Boklinsk region. In 1931 he was arrested and on September 8 was<br />

sentenced to eight years in <strong>the</strong> camps and sent to a camp. Nothing more is<br />

known about him.<br />

Archimandrite Seraphim, in <strong>the</strong> world Severian Nikandrovich Pavlovsky,<br />

was born in 1869 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Yezhovo, Tsarevokokshaisk uyezd, and<br />

finished six classes at a gymnasium. In 1905 he became a novice in <strong>the</strong> Nikolo-<br />

Berezovsky missionary monastery. On November 21, 1910 he was tonsured,<br />

on May 30, 1911 was ordained to <strong>the</strong> diaconate, and on May 31 – to <strong>the</strong><br />

priesthood. From 1913 he was living in <strong>the</strong> Sviyazhsk monastery. From 1918<br />

he was serving in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Krasnaya Gorka, from 1921 – in <strong>the</strong> Danilov<br />

monastery in Moscow, from 1927 in <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> St. Nicholas on Pokrovka,<br />

and from 1927 in <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Georgian icon <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> God. On<br />

January 29, 1927 he was raised to <strong>the</strong> rank <strong>of</strong> igumen in <strong>the</strong> Uglich women’s<br />

monastery, and on January 30 – to <strong>the</strong> rank <strong>of</strong> archimandrite, being registered<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Danilov monastery. At <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>of</strong> 1931 he was arrested, and in<br />

March was sentenced to three years’ exile and sent to Arkhangelsk. In<br />

February, 1934 he was released from exile and returned to this native village.<br />

From February, 1936 he served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Kuzhmar. On November 29,<br />

1937 he was arrested, and on December 7 was sentenced to death. On<br />

December 8 he was shot.<br />
