Priest Nicholas Georgievich Zavarin was born in 1882 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Spasskoye, Vokhansk uyezd into a peasant family, and went to <strong>the</strong>ological<br />

seminary in Vologda. He served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Poludennoye, Petropavlovsk<br />

uyezd in Siberia, and from 1926 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Ledenskoye, Vokhansk<br />

region. He supported Bishop Victor (Ostrovidov). In 1930 he was arrested<br />

and sentenced to two years in <strong>the</strong> camps and sent to a camp. In June, 1932 he<br />

was exiled to Arkhangelsk, where he worked in forestry. In June, 1934 he was<br />

released from exile and settled in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Zavetluzhye, Pyschugsky<br />

region, serving in <strong>the</strong> local church. On March 3, 1935 he was arrested for anti-<br />

Soviet agitation, and on June 21 was sentenced to three years in <strong>the</strong> camps<br />

and sent to Karlag. On October 30, 1937 he was arrested in camp, and on<br />

November 30 was sentenced to death and shot on <strong>the</strong> same day.<br />

Priest Ivan Stepanovich Mamayev was born in 1899 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Dushkiny, Arbazh uyezd, where he served. In 1928 he was appointed dean <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> second district <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kotelnich region, and in 1928 succeeded in<br />

persuading <strong>the</strong> believers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Letyagi, Arbazh region to join <strong>the</strong><br />

Catacomb Church under Bishop Victor. In 1930 he was arrested for being “a<br />

participant in <strong>the</strong> counter-revolutionary organization <strong>of</strong> churchmen, <strong>the</strong> ‘True<br />

<strong>Orthodox</strong> Church’”, and on May 26 was sentenced to five years in <strong>the</strong> camps<br />

and sent to Karlag. In 1936 he was arrested in camp, and on October 27 his<br />

sentence was increased to five years. In 1937 he was arrested in camp, and on<br />

December 8 he was sentenced to death. On December 10 he was shot.<br />

Priest Nicholas Dmitrievich Fokin was born in 1873 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Krasnaya rechka, Yaransk uyezd, and went to a <strong>the</strong>ological seminary. A priest<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> “Victorite” orientation, he served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Chigiren, Kyrchansk<br />

region. In <strong>the</strong> summer <strong>of</strong> 1937 he was arrested for being “a participant in <strong>the</strong><br />

counter-revolutionary organization <strong>of</strong> churchpeople, ‘<strong>the</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong><br />

Church’”, and on December 9 he was sentenced to death. On December 11 he<br />

was shot.<br />

Priest Nicholas Nikolayevich Kurbanovsky was born in 1881 in Vyatka,<br />

and went to a <strong>the</strong>ological seminary. He was disenfranchised. He served in<br />

Kotelnich, where he was arrested in 1932 and accused <strong>of</strong> “joining <strong>the</strong> staff <strong>of</strong> a<br />

church-monarchist organization, <strong>the</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Church”, <strong>of</strong> “being an<br />

activist <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> organization” and <strong>of</strong> “conducting counter-revolutionary work<br />

in <strong>the</strong> population”. In <strong>the</strong> autumn <strong>of</strong> 1937 he was arrested in Vyatka province,<br />

and on December 9 was sentenced to death. On December 13 he was shot in<br />

Vyatka prison.<br />
