he was condemned to one year’s forced labour for not handing over bread<br />

reserves. In 1921 he was sentenced to three years in <strong>the</strong> camps. This sentence<br />

was reduced to eighteen months on amnesty on June 22, 1921. After his<br />

release he returned to Kuzaikino, and after <strong>the</strong> church’s closure worked as a<br />

tailor. In 1929 he was fined for fifty rubles for not handing over bread<br />

reserves. On October 18, 1929 he was arrested in a group church case and<br />

accused that: “he grouped around himself <strong>the</strong> clergy <strong>of</strong> surrounding villages,<br />

and for three years systematically conducted agitation against <strong>the</strong> soviets and<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir enterprises”. On December 23 he was sentenced to three years in <strong>the</strong><br />

camps and sent to Solovki. In July, 1932 he was released and returned to his<br />

homeland. In 1933 he was arrested for being “<strong>the</strong> leader <strong>of</strong> a religiomonarchist<br />

group <strong>of</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Churchmen”. On June 16 he was<br />

sentenced to ten years in <strong>the</strong> camps and sent to a camp (Nizhnyaya<br />

Tunguska). Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Priest Philip Demyanovich Gorbunov was born in 1892 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Maly Batras, Zainsk uyezd, where he served. He was a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Bro<strong>the</strong>rhood <strong>of</strong> St. Gurias. On February 25, 1930 he was arrested, but on April<br />

13 he was released and <strong>the</strong> case shelved. On March 26, 1933 he was arrested<br />

again for being “a participant in a religio-monarchist counter-revolutionary<br />

group <strong>of</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Churchmen”, and on June 16 was sentenced to eight<br />

years in <strong>the</strong> camps and sent to a camp. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Priest Andrew Nikolayevich Fokin was born in 1899 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Russkij Aktash, Almetyevsk uyezd. He served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> Yelan,<br />

Almetyevsk uyezd. On March 23, 1933 he was arrested for being “a<br />

participant in a religio-monarchist counter-revolutionary group <strong>of</strong> True<br />

<strong>Orthodox</strong> Churchpeople”, and on June 16 was sentenced to eight years in <strong>the</strong><br />

camps and sent to a camp. Nothing more is known about him.<br />

Priest Peter Zakharovich Pokarov was born in 1880 in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong><br />

Klyaush, Mamadysh uyezd. He served in <strong>the</strong> village <strong>of</strong> But, Almetyevsk<br />

region, and was a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bro<strong>the</strong>rhood <strong>of</strong> St. Gurias. On March 23,<br />

1933 he was arrested for being “a participant in a religio-monarchist counterrevolutionary<br />

group <strong>of</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong> Churchmen”, and on June 16 was<br />

His wife, Euphrosyne Ivanovna Pokarova, was born in 1884 in <strong>the</strong> village<br />

St. Gurias. On March 26, 1933 she was arrested for being “a participant in a<br />

religio-monarchist counter-revolutionary group <strong>of</strong> True <strong>Orthodox</strong><br />

Churchmen”, and on June 16 was sentenced to five years in <strong>the</strong> camps and<br />

sent to a camp. Nothing more is known about her.<br />
