The Lithuanian women's greater degree of satisfaction compared with the men is linked largely to the fact that the women work mostly in the public and the men mostly in the private sector. There are great differences in job satisfaction between the sectors in Lithuania: working people in the public sector are considerably more satisfied than those in the private sector. Those who are the most dissatisfied of all among the Baltic countries are Lithuanian private-sector workers. In Latvia and Estonia the sectoral differences, though along the same lines as in Lithuania, are rather small. The gaps between the genders in the private sector are nevertheless fairly small. In the public sector, by contrast, the women's greater satisfaction compared with the men is striking.
