By combining the information from the above two graphs, we can find out
how commonly workplace development measures have been carried out in the
Baltic nations on the initiative of the staff or/and the management. In all the
countries, over half of the working people stated that something of that sort
had been done during the year previous to the survey. In Latvia and Estonia,
nearly two-thirds (63 % in Latvia and 62 % in Estonia) said either that they
had made suggestions themselves or else that the management had established
some kind of development project at their workplace. In Lithuania, 57 % responded
similarly.
The working people were also asked in a little more detail about the aspects
being developed. Most often, the development activities have been connected
with the introduction of technical equipment. Also new ways of working have
often been a reason for engaging in development activities. Slightly more seldom
than these, the measures have been concerned with the launching of
completely new products.
