All Working people in all the Baltic countries can be divided into three groups according to utilisation of information technology devices: 1) Those who use information technology almost continually, i.e. the so-called information workers. One-fifth of the Estonians and Latvians, and 15 % of the Lithuanians, belong to this group. These are typically youngish people, and for them the computers and mobile phones are primary working tools. 2) Those who use information technology actively as an aid. These persons use it during a quarter to a half of their working hours - that is, when necessary, they are always able to make use of information technology devices and the possibilities they offer. This group comprises 15 % of the Estonians, 12 % of the Latvians and 11 % of the Lithuanians. 3) Those who remain outside the realm of information technology or who use it only a little. A clear majority of the working population in all the Baltic nations belong to this group (65 % in Estonia, 68 % in Latvia and 74 % in Lithuania). The members of this group are typically older than those of the two previous groups. An easy future in the labour markets cannot be predicted for them, since the pressures toward utilisation of
