between the responses at the two times are nevertheless quite small.
For the women, the changes occurring during the three years are slightly
greater than for the men. In general, the female workers have regarded the
changes more positively than earlier. The greatest changes can be noticed with
respect to environmental questions at the workplace and obtaining of information.
In 1998, those women who saw gender equality as developing for the
worse rather than for the better, outnumbered those of the opposite view.
During the three years, the balance has taken a slight positive turn. Nevertheless,
the trend in equality is still regarded more sceptically than in the other
factors being assessed.
DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS
The changes in Latvia are hardly weighted at all toward any particular age
group. It is generally true in Latvia, too, that pessimism about the trends increases
with age.
