This program was developed to serve the multiphase modeling requirements of TOF –ND data analysis. Initial<br />

modeling of the experimental data during the refinement process adopted a quartz, feldspar, plagioclase,<br />

hematite and diopside mineral combination (see Fig 3), according to earlier ND analysis [6]. Preliminary<br />

analyses revealed that in all diagrams quartz and feldspars phase fractions are dominant.<br />

Diopside and iron oxide phases were also identifiable. The diopside content is found to decrease with<br />

increasing quartz - feldspar compositions. Further more the plagioclase content is increased almost linearly with<br />

the temperature. The hematite content in the sample remains almost constant above 700 ºC and is in excess of<br />

7% . Based upon the data collected in the second step, the firing temperatures of the pottery samples were<br />

determined to be within 850 to 950ºC.<br />
