1. Yes, it is critical that you do a superb job for your client, but marketing is<br />

more than a peripheral part of what a consultant does. No marketing; no<br />

work. Do remember that one of the best things you can do is to get your satisfied<br />

clients to provide referrals for new business for you. So if you do good<br />

work, ask for more business. That’s marketing.<br />

2. Consultants are busy. You need to put your plan on paper or you will not do<br />

what needs to be done.<br />

3. This book is filled with fast, easy, and free marketing techniques and ideas.<br />

4. Eventually that work will be completed and then what will you do? The most<br />

important time to market is when you are too busy to do so.<br />

5. Like most topics, marketing is filled with theory. You do not need to know<br />

all the theory to start. In fact, you will learn throughout this book how much<br />

you know already. <strong>Marketing</strong> can be practical. It is common sense with a<br />

dash of creativity thrown in for fun.<br />
