What’s Your Company’s Marketing Success?
How do you get started with a marketing plan? What do you do?
How do you do it? Like the consultants in Chapter One, you cannot
just send brochures to a purchased mailing list, then sit back and
wait for clients to call. To be a successful consultant, you must market
your services—getting the word out to the right people. Granted, you
may market to whomever and to whatever extent you would like. But
you cannot successfully market to the world. You must get the word
out, but you need to narrow your scope.
You might be the best consultant in the world, know the most innovative solutions,
be the most knowledgeable in your field, and provide the most return on investment
of any in your area. But if no one knows you exist, how will clients find
you? You need to let people know that you and your business are available to serve
them. You need to promote yourself. And as stated at the end of the last chapter,
you need to do it all the time. However, before you promote yourself you need to
determine exactly what you are promoting and to whom. You have established a
strategy in your business plan. It is time to reassess that strategy now from a marketing
perspective.
