What Message Do You Send?<br />

When consultants think about marketing, often the first thing<br />

that comes to mind is a brochure. Quite honestly many consultants<br />

are successful without ever designing a brochure. You should<br />

be aware that many other items send messages to your clients as well.<br />

“Send” in this case means in the mail and/or in person. You will want<br />

to ensure that all of your messages, on paper or in person, are consistently<br />

professional.<br />

Developing a powerful, consistent marketing message that establishes the image<br />

you desire is critical. Doing so provides repetition for potential clients, and repetition<br />

is what helps people remember you. You send marketing messages by means<br />

of who you are, what you do, and what your marketing materials look like. <strong>Your</strong><br />

consulting company’s image will influence those who hire you.<br />

CONSISTENCY IS CRITICAL<br />

One of the biggest marketing mistakes new consultants make is sending inconsistent<br />

messages to potential clients. This is done inadvertently. They don’t mean to do<br />
