Luick tip . . .
Use the name you want to be called on your business card, for example,
Bill instead of William.
Imagine you have handed your card out at the last conference you attended,
along with 13,000 other participants. You gave business cards to one hundred participants
and now they are sifting through the cards they collected. What is going
to make someone stop and look at your card a little longer? Heavier card stock? A
unique paper or color? A great logo? If you want something that stands out among
other cards, try some of these ideas:
• Try a vertical layout
• Print your picture on the card
• Add embossing or foil stamping for an elegant look
• Treat the edges creatively, deckled for example
• Use card stock that has a different color on each side
• Design a folded card that might look like a miniature brochure
• Use unusual paper, perhaps with flecks of color (remember if you use this for
stationery it will not copy well)
• Have your cards cut larger or smaller
• Print a quote on the front or back
• Print tips that relate to your business on the back
• Give yourself an unusual title
• Add a picture of a book you’ve written
• Add a tag line, a four-word description of what you do
The choice is yours. You’ve got to love your business cards. They are the best
marketing tool you have. You should challenge yourself to give away as many as
possible. The easy way to do that is to ask others for a business card and then hand
them yours. You might even hand the person two—one for a friend.
