Thesis Keith Gale 2013are consistent (same conditions of contract, employer, administration, specificationand highways environment, close geographic location).11.8 Face validationFace validation is the recognition by non-researchers of the worth of a study. This isparticularly relevant where a study involves professional practice set withinconstruction management. Engagement of participants to the study and involvementwith key decision makers contribute towards gaining face validation of the subjectmatter (Lucko and Rojas, 2010). As this research is set within public sectorconstruction management, it was regarded as beneficial in obtaining approval bycentral government of results from the pilot study. Appendix 7 reproduces a letterfrom the Minister of State for Construction and Enterprise supporting pilot resultsfrom the research and the case study setting within which it sits.Use of structured interviews by engagement with experienced participants from adefined sociological class has allowed face value to be added to this research fromqualitative analysis.11.9 Convergence through engagement of dataFollowing validation and replication of the methods used, a convergence throughanalysis of this research is undertaken to ensure a significant engagement withprofessional practice. This requires a substantive body of work representative of agroup comprised of experienced and qualified construction managementprofessionals to enable sociological enquiry. In addition, a significant value andnumber of projects for analysis provides mass to the research value. Table 11.3provides an overview of data.269
