Appendices to Thesis Keith Gale 2013Um, this one I wasn’t too sure on how to answer I’m afraid. I’m not.. I don’t have anin-depth knowledge of contract and risk. I know the basics of it, and I know thatsupposedly risks are supposed to be allocated to whoever best able to manage themin these sorts of contracts. But whether it really helps much, I don’t really know I’mafraid.Q16 Which method (traditional verses framework) do you think provides the mosteffective communication between participants in construction projects? Why doyou feel this?My answer to that was that in an ideal world there shouldn’t be any difference.Communication is essential. Good communication is essential on projects no matterwhat procurement method you’re using. So you feel they’re pretty evenly balanced either way?I would say that they ought to be evenly balanced, yeh. You might be obliged tocommunicate better in a framework for instance, but I don’t think that should be thecase. I think it should be effective no matter what.Q17 Which method (traditional verses framework) do you think allows financialcontrol of a project to be used most effectively? Why do you feel this is so?Err, once again this is outside my area of expertise completely. So I really don’tknow the answer to that question.Q18 Do you feel that we should continue the use of frameworks in the future whenthe current ones expire in 2012?My view is yes. Again in my limited experience it seems like a good idea. From whatI’ve heard about it and from what I’ve dealt with so far the performance underframeworks seems better.439
