Thesis Keith Gale 201311.9 Sharing research findings by publicationAn important facet of research is sharing of findings with practitioners and the wideracademic community. Achieved through publication of articles in academic journalsand presentation of papers at conference proceedings, this process exposes meanings, methodologies, assumptions and interpretation of the research to critical enquiry byexperts and peers (Runeson and Loosemore, 1999). Feedback from a publication andpresentation process is invaluable because it provides contextual positioning of theresearch within its setting and provides enhancement to fortify conclusions at eachstage. Over the period of this research, articles and presentations have been made topublicise the subject matter and gain feedback from cohorts:• Gale (2010a) – Article in Civil Engineering Surveyor• Gale (2010b) – Referred paper in the Construction, Building and Real EstateConference of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors• Gale (2011) – Referred paper in the 10 th International PostgraduateResearch Conference• Gale (2012) - Poster and presentation 6 th Annual Research Student ResearchConference• Gale and Lam (2013) – Referred paper in the 11 th International PostgraduateResearch ConferencePublication of articles and papers provides academic review by others and discussionfrom interested parties engaged in professional practice. Gale (2010a) receivedpositive comment from members of the Chartered Institute of Civil EngineeringSurveyors concerning the originality of this research. Presentation of paper Gale(2010b) in Paris and Gale (2011) in Salford allowed discussion with otherconstruction management researchers regarding research methods selected andproposed performance model. The presentation Gale (2012) announced pilot resultsfrom the research at a conference in Cambridge whilst Gale and Lam (2013)publishes key project outcomes of differences between the two procurement methodscompiled from the research.271
