Why do you think it is?Ummm, I wasn’t sure about this question. I’ll be honest with you. A risk is detailedin the NEC commissions of contract, umm and I’m not sure whether the method ofprocurement kind of changes that. I couldn’t think of a reason why it should.So you feel that irrespective of frameworks or traditional methods, its more to dowith the conditions of the contract?Its just spread risk. Yes, yeah.Do you feel that risk is understood any differently between framework suppliers andone off suppliers?Yeah, I mean it’s the same thing really. I couldn’t think of any examples where riskwould have been spread any differently had it been in a framework or in a traditionalcontract.Q16 Which method (traditional verses framework) do you think provides the mosteffective communication between participants in construction projects? Why doyou feel this?Again, I would say that the framework, or the communication between the parties isprobably better within the framework environment. Again, familiarity, continuedworking relationships you’re dealing with. You know the communication paths, youknow who you’ve got to talk to, to get things done err and also, probably the biggestcommunication you know in our game is the contract. Everybody is familiar with it.It might be some specific scheme, but generally contractors know how we put ourdocuments together. Err, and also conversely we tend to know the people on site, wetend to know their methods of working and the way that they do things. So I’ddefinitely say that the framework again has more pros than cons to be honest in termsof communication. You’re not starting again on every contract. Especially with thesmaller contractors that we deal with because we all know who does what.407
