Why do you think that is?I think good working relationships are key to successful delivery of any project, and Ithink that if you’ve got a good working relationship then it enables bettercommunication between the parties and that communication can lead to closerrelationships and enable… if you’ve good working communication then um, withyour client or your supplier, it works both ways and I think than it can probablybe…. If one party can go to the other and go ‘look, we’ve got a problem’ as early asit is, you can try and work through that problem together which again builds yourrelationship. If you’re in a more managerial position and there’s potentially anelement of thinking either err… if we go to them their going to be looking at acommercial element where money can be made or saved from this or they may beusing an attitude which I’ve seen on site where party one talk to each other becausethey have an managerial relationship between them and they feel like they’re goingto loose face by admitting that one of them has, well, made a mistake or there’s aproblem within the supply chain, umm but I think that can actually damage theproject. So actually having really good communication with each other on projectsand be able to be open about issues that are arising as soon as they arise, helps buildstronger project teams across different parts of delivery.Q11 In your opinion, what are the drivers that encourage projects to be completed‘right first time’? Does the procurement help or hinder this?Umm again, communication needs to be a key player in delivering a project which isright first time. Any time the supplier needs to know exactly what he is delivering,can he deliver it in the correct way and on time? And being able to ask questions tothe client and the design team, um, where there’s been ambiguity can lead to ironingthose things out to deliver the project. Rather than delivering the project when you’renot sure about the signage and so you put what you think might be right even thenyou don’t think you’ve done a good job because there ambiguity in the drawing.
