An exhibition of work by Mariusz Grygielewicz: May 4 - July 14, 2007FIDMARSEILLE avec RLBQ&Marius Grygielewicz’s one-man show, En Route de faire, at the RLBQ Gallery brings togethera selection of new works produced specifically for this occasion. As well as a video of thesame title, the exhibition shows a variety of media – photographs, sculpture and objects –which are significant in view of the wide range of forms and genres through which the artistarticulates a complex, untypical vision. In his work the serious nature of ever-present artistic,political and existential questions is overturned by the driving force of an unbridled poeticimagination.Following on from its title, which both resonates like an exhortation which the artist directsat himself and indicates an active process already underway, the exhibition takes the visitoron a journey punctuated by stops and starts, openings and closings. The studio space actsas a metaphorical site of projection and representation, forms a recurrent set for thephotographs with their dreamlike atmosphere. The strange individuals who figure in situationssometimes absurd, sometimes heroic or grotesque embody the diverse aspirations,inspirations and contradictions of artistic creativity.
