Ten Minutes Older: The Trumpet
ALUMBRAMIENTO
(t.l.: Parto)
Werner Herzog, Víctor Erice, Chen Kaige, Jim Jarmusch,
innovativa e provocatoria. Questo film mostra tutte le
esperienze umane: nascita, morte, amore, sesso, il quotidiano,
la storia e il mito.
Werner Herzog, Víctor Erice, Chen Kaige, Jim Jarmusch, Aki
Kaurismäki, Spike Lee and Wim Wenders: these are just some of
the directors who, in ten minutes, tell a story related to time.
Enjoying absolute creative freedom, each filmmaker brings to the
screen his own personal interpretation of “time,” using cinematic
technology in an innovative and provocative manner. This
film portrays the entire range of the human experience: birth,
death, love, sex, everyday life, history and myth.
Chiuso
lentamente. Prima che diventi di nuovo buio riusciamo
a intravedere una data: venerdì, 28 giugno 1940.”
Víctor Erice
“In the dark, along with the sounds of a field on a summer’s
evening, the cry of a newborn baby is heard. After the exertion of
the labor, the young mother and her baby boy sleep peacefully.
Suddenly, a small red stain appears on the cloth in which the
baby is wrapped. No one notices. The townspeople continue on
with their work and play. And nature obliviously continues its
blind course. Locked up in an attic, a little boy waits alone in the
half-light. In order to deceive time, he designs the face of a watch
on his left wrist. Upon finishing the design, he places the watch
to his ear, as if listening to a mysterious signal: the heartbeat of
the world around him. It is noon.... Cronos, with his watchful
eye, thinks he can chronicle life, but life evades all such attempts.
The newborn’s bloodstain continues to grow, like a never-ending
rose. The boy in the attic erases the imaginary watch from his
wrist. A woman’s voice breaks the silence with a lullaby: “Not
now, my baby, not now!” The echo of history – the photograph of
several smiling German soldiers of the Third Reich on the international
bridge of Hendaya – seen on the pages of a discarded
newspaper, slowly fades. Before it becomes dark again, we catch
a glimpse of the date: Friday, June 28, 1940.”
