La distinzione tra propaganda e storiografia e la censura<br />
operata dagli organi di stato sulle cineriprese militari<br />
destinate al pubblico <strong>del</strong>le sale, allora come oggi. Il video<br />
alterna momenti pubblici (i discorsi <strong>del</strong> Duce, le esercitazioni,<br />
la partenza al fronte, la guerra) a ‘spazi intimi’ <strong>del</strong><br />
nostro soldato. Il materiale d’archivio è ripreso in digitale<br />
da un monitor televisivo, dissezionato, sviscerato, distorto<br />
e rimontato con variazioni di velocità, di cromatismi e di<br />
suoni/musiche.<br />
The distinction between propaganda and historiography and the<br />
censorship conducted by the state authorities on the military<br />
movie cameras destined for general <strong>cinema</strong> audiences, then like<br />
now. The video alternates between our soldier’s public moments<br />
(the Duce’s speeches, military maneuvers, departures to the<br />
front, the war) and “intimate spaces.” The archive material is<br />
shot in digital by a television monitor, dissected, disemboweled,<br />
distorted and re-edited with varying speeds, chromatisms and<br />
sounds/music.<br />

MACERIE DELL’ARCOBALENO<br />
Scrutando e annusando gli anfratti e gli orifizi di questo<br />
corpo martirizzato e imploso, si disegna una mappatura, o<br />
meglio un’autopsia di ciò che resta <strong>del</strong>l’ex-<strong>cinema</strong> Arcobaleno<br />
di Alessano (chiuso nel 1984): una fredda analisi ‘spiata’<br />
di questa carcassa pulsante di vita, in cui il ricordo è reiterato<br />
soltanto dal battito lontano di un proiettore.<br />
Scrutinizing and sniffing the crevices and orifices of this martyred<br />
and implosive body, a map is designed. Or, rather, an<br />
autopsy of that which remains of the former Arcobaleno movie<br />
theatre in Alessano (shut down in 1984). A cold, ‘spied’ analysis<br />
of this carcass throbbing with life, in which the memory is reiterated<br />
only by the distant beating of a projector.<br />
