“Sono un regista e un giorno ho lasciato la mia anziana e
malata madre e il mio debole padre per tornare nella fattoria
del paese. Non sapevo il perché di questa decisione.
Prima di andare, ho chiesto a mia madre di farmi una cintura.
Ricordo le sue mani tremolanti e il suo sorriso luminoso.
Un giorno mia madre è morta. Con l’aiuto di una
persona, ho comprato un pezzo di terra per seppellirla in
una tomba. Ho un rituale per lei con il riso che ho raccolto
io stesso. Questo è un film su un regista in una fattoria,
osservato da una camera fissa. La camera cattura i sentimenti
inespressi verso i suoi genitori mentre vita e morte
quietamente si alternano intorno a lui.”

“I am a film director and one day I left my sick, elderly mother
and feeble father to return to a farm in the country. I didn’t know
why I had made that decision. Before I left, I asked my mother to
make me a belt. I remember my mother’s shaky hands and her
bright smile. One day, my mother passed away. Through someone’s
help, I bought some land to bury my mother in a grave. I
performed a ritual for her with the rice I harvested myself. This
is a film about a film director on a farm, as seen from a fixed camera.
The camera captures his unspoken feelings towards his parents
as life and death quietly happen around him.”

Biografia
Nato nel 1962 a Kimhae ha studiato presso l’Università
Teologica di Hankook. Ha esordito alla regia nel 1993 con
il cortometraggio For Rosa. La sua opera prima, Yellow Flower,
è stata proiettata in occasione della trentacinquesima
Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema di Pesaro.
Biography
Born in 1962, he studied at the Theological University of Hakook
in Kimhae. He debuted as a director in 1993 with the short film
For Rosa. His first feature, Yellow Flower, was screened at the
35th Pesaro Film Festival.
