Film in tre episodi: Kinematograf Theater Erdberg, Wien 1912;
Apollo Theater, Surabaya 1929; Cinema São Mamede Infesta,
Porto 1930. Found footage che ci riporta agli albori del cinema.
Immagini di un tempo che fu: strade, piazze, persone
“sconosciute”, tre città e tre cinema all’inizio del secolo
scorso. Gli eventi di quegli anni sono evocati e appaiono
come un riflesso: Cinema specchio del mondo. In questo senso,
Gustav Deutsch e Hanna Schimek ricostruiscono un’epoca
con poche e intense inquadrature dove i protagonisti
sono portati in primo piano e vengono messi in risalto per
poi scomparire e tornare nell’oblio.
A film in three episodes: Kinematograf Theater Erdberg,
Wien 1912; Apollo Theater, Surabaya 1929; Cinema São
Mamede Infesta, Porto 1930. Found footage that takes us back
to the dawn of cinema. Images of a time that was: streets,
squares, “unknown” people, three cities and three cinemas at the
beginning of the last century. The events of those years are
recalled and appear as a reflection: Cinema, mirror of the
world. In this sense, Gustav Deutsch and Hanna Schimek
reconstruct an era with a few, intense images, where the protagonists
are brought to the forefront and spotlight, before disappearing
and returning to oblivion.
Biografia
Nato nel 1952 in Austria, si divide artisticamente tra disegno,
musica, fotografia, architettura, video, film, performance,
sin da quando aveva 10 anni. Le sue opere sono
state esposte in Austria, Francia, Germania, Lussemburgo,
Inghilterra, Marocco, Grecia e Turchia.
Biography
Born in Austria in 1952, he has been dividing his artistic time
between design, music, photography, architecture, video, film
and performances since he was ten years old. His works have
been shown in Austria, France, Germany, Luxemburg, England,
Morocco, Greece and Turkey.
