Tema <strong>del</strong> <strong>document</strong>ario è la dolorosa divisione tra le due<br />

Coree. Il punto di vista è quello <strong>del</strong>le spie inviate dal Nord<br />

e arrestate nel Sud tra gli anni ‘60 e ‘80. In particolare, Kim<br />

Dong-won ha intervistato le spie liberate a partire dal<br />

1992, ossia quelle che resistettero al “programma di ri-educazione”<br />

e che dunque furono scarcerate più tardi rispetto<br />

a chi sotto tortura decise di sconfessare l’ideologia comunista.<br />

Non avendo un luogo dove poter vivere, solo nel settembre<br />

<strong>del</strong> 2000, questi prigionieri poterono rimpatriare<br />

nella Corea <strong>del</strong> Nord. Kim Dong-won incontrò due di queste<br />

spie e decise di raccontarne le vicende, affascinato dal<br />

fatto che nonostante la prigionia e le torture non avessero<br />

rinunciato alla propria ideologia.<br />

The <strong>document</strong>ary’s theme is the painful division between the two<br />

Koreas. The point of view is that of the spies sent from the North<br />

and arrested in the South from the 1960s to the 1980s. In particular,<br />

Kim Dong-won interviewed spies freed after 1992 or,<br />

rather, those who resisted against the “reeducation program”<br />

and were thus freed later than those who, under torture, decided<br />

to repudiate Communist ideology. Not having a place to live,<br />

these prisoners were not repatriated to North Korea until September<br />

of 2000. Kim Dong-won met two of these spies and decided<br />

to relate the events of their lives, fascinated by the fact that<br />

they did not disavow their ideology despite years of prison and<br />

torture.<br />

Biografia<br />

Nato nel 1955 a Seoul, si è laureato all’Università di<br />

Sogang con un diploma in comunicazione di massa. Ha<br />

lavorato come assistente di regia e come produttore di<br />

<strong>document</strong>ari. Nel 1991 ha fondato la P.U.R.N. Production,<br />

attraverso la quale ha prodotto e diretto circa trenta <strong>document</strong>ari.<br />

Biography<br />

Born in 1955 in Seoul, he graduated in Mass Communications<br />

from the University of Sogang. He worked as an assistant director<br />

and <strong>document</strong>ary producer In 1991, he founded P.U.R.N.<br />

Production, through which he has produced and directed approximately<br />

thirty <strong>document</strong>aries.<br />
