JEONJU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:
DIGITAL SHORT FILMS BY THREE FILMMAKERS 2000 & 2003
Il Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) è stato fondato
nel 2000 e fin dalla prima edizione ha cercato di ritagliarsi
un posto importante nel panorama internazionale. Oggi il
festival è il terzo evento cinematografico più prestigioso
dopo Pusan e Puchon. La manifestazione offre una straordinaria
varietà di eventi. Il festival offre non solo un’accurata
selezione di film ma anche iniziative parallele come
conferenze, dibattiti, incontri con gli autori, seminari ed
esposizioni d’arte. Altra iniziativa prestigiosa è rappresentata
dai Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers; sin dalla
prima edizione il festival invita tre cineasti asiatici a realizzare
un cortometraggio ciascuno della durata di circa 30
minuti, girato con apparecchiature digitali. Il festival
finanzia e distribuisce l’intero progetto, lasciando completa
libertà agli autori. I tre corti annualmente vanno poi a
comporre un lungometraggio di circa 90 minuti. Ogni
anno risulta molto interessante osservare in che modo i
registi utilizzano una tecnologia, con la quale forse non
hanno molta confidenza, e scoprire eventuali originalità o
somiglianze tra le loro scelte. A Pesaro proponiamo le
annate 2000 e 2003.
The Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) was founded in
2000 and from its first edition sought to carve out an important
niche in the international landscape. Today, the festival is the
third most prestigious cinematic event in Korea, after Pusan and
Puchon, and offers an extraordinary variety of events. The festival
not only offers a thorough selection of films, but parallel initiatives
as well, such as conferences, debates, meetings with filmmakers,
seminars and art exhibits. Another prestigious initiative
is Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers. Since its first
edition, JIFF has invited three Asian filmmakers to make a short
film each, of approximately 30 minutes, using digital equipment.
The three shorts then make up a feature film of approximately 90
minutes. It is interesting to see each year how the directors use
the technology, with which perhaps they are not very experienced,
and to discover the originality of and resemblance among
their choices. Pesaro will be presenting the works from 2000 and
2003 editions.
