Un film sulle avanguardie degli anni ’60 e sulla storia dei
primi micro-computer, più in generale sulle questioni
scientifiche aperte del ventunesimo secolo. Protagonista di
questo racconto è Erkki Kurenniemi, considerato un profeta
dell’headband video, della realtà e dell'intelligenza artificiale,
campi in cui ha condotto ricerche pionieristiche. Il
materiale d’archivio risale agli albori dell’arte elettronica, e
include spezzoni di cortometraggi sperimentali incompiuti
di Erkki Kurenniemi. E’ il ritratto di un visionario
dimenticato. Come in altre opere di Taanila, si guarda al
passato, e attraverso ciò si vede molto chiaramente il lontano
futuro.
A film on the avant-garde of the 1960s, the history of the first
micro-computers and, in general, on the scientific questions postulated
in the 20th century. This story centers on Erkki Kurenniemi,
considered to be the prophet of headband videos, artificial
reality and artificial intelligence; fields in which he conducted
groundbreaking research. The archive material goes back to the
dawn of electronic art, and includes clips of Erkki Kurenniemi’s
unfinished, short experimental films. It is a portrait of a forgotten
visionary. As in other of Taanila’s films, the focus is on the
past, through which the distant future can be seen clearly.
