MEMOIRE CARBONE<br />
“Aprile 2004. L’ industria <strong>del</strong> carbone in Lorraine (Francia)<br />
è diventata storia, con la chiusura <strong>del</strong>la sua ultima miniera,<br />
vicino Creutzwald, Moselle. Il museo <strong>del</strong>l’industria<br />
mineraria mi ha chiesto di filmare la sommità di una cava<br />
e un impianto di pulitura <strong>del</strong> carbone, poche settimane<br />
prima <strong>del</strong>la loro chiusura. Visto il poco tempo a disposizione<br />
, ho deciso di cominciare immediatamente le riprese,<br />
durante la mia prima visita alla cava. Tre ore di corse.... ma<br />
dopo l'ultimo taglio, era ovvio che dovevo tornare là per<br />
registrare le impressioni dei minatori in pensione, cosa che<br />
feci con l’aiuto di un musicista, Philippe Joncquel.”<br />

“April 2004. Coal mining in Lorraine (France) became history,<br />
which led to the closing down of its last mineshaft, near<br />
Creutzwald, Moselle. The museum of the mining industry asked<br />
me to film a pit top and a coal-cleaning plant, a few weeks before<br />
their closure. Considering the short time allotted, I decided to<br />
start filming immediately while visiting the pit top. I came back<br />
with 3-hours worth of rushes...but after the final cut, it became<br />
obvious that I had to go back there to tape the accounts of the<br />
retired pitface workers, which I did with the help of a musician,<br />
Philippe Joncquel.”<br />

Biografia<br />
Nato nel 1963 a Nancy, Pierre Villemin vive e lavora a<br />
Metz e produce film e video dal 1984. Dal 1999 si interessa<br />
<strong>del</strong>la relazione tra testo/voce/immagini. Insegna in una<br />
scuola d’arte a Metz e i suoi video vengono rappresentati<br />
all’interno di svariati festival Europei. Dal 2002 produce<br />
“Video Poesia” con il fratello, Jean Villemin.<br />
Biography<br />
Born in 1963 in Nancy, France, Pierre Villemin lives and works<br />
in Metz and has been making films and videos since 1984. Since<br />
1999, he has been interested in the relationships between<br />
text/voice/images. He teaches at an art school in Metz and his<br />
videos have been presented at several European festivals. Since<br />
2002, he has been making video poetry with his brother, Jean<br />
Villemin.<br />
