To enable upstream forward error correction (FEC), use the cable upstream fec command in cable<br />

interface configuration mode. To disable FEC, use the no form of this command.<br />

Usage <strong>Guide</strong>lines The <strong>Cisco</strong> CMTS uses FEC to attempt to correct any upstream data that might have been corrupted. To<br />

use this feature, you need to activate FEC on the upstream RF carrier. When FEC is activated, the<br />

<strong>Cisco</strong> CMTS commands all CMs on the network to activate FEC.<br />

Examples The following example shows how to activate upstream forward error correction:<br />

cable upstream frequency Enters a fixed frequency of the upstream RF carrier for an<br />

upstream port.<br />

cable upstream power-level Sets the input power level for the upstream RF carrier in<br />

decibels per millivolt (dBmV).<br />

cable upstream scrambler Enables the cable upstream scrambler.<br />

cable upstream shutdown Disables the upstream port.<br />
