cable intercept<br />

To allow the CMTS to forward all traffic to and from a particular CM to a data collector located at particular<br />

User Datagram Protocol (UDP) port, use the cable intercept command in cable interface configuration<br />

mode. To deactivate this function, use the no form of this command.<br />

mac-address Specifies the MAC address to be intercepted.<br />

ip-address Specifies the IP address for the destination data collector.<br />

udp-port Specifies the destination UDP port number for the intercept stream at the<br />

data collector. Valid range is 0 to 65535.<br />

Usage <strong>Guide</strong>lines When this command is activated, the <strong>Cisco</strong> CMTS router examines each packet for the desired MAC<br />

address; when a matching MAC address is found (for either the origination or destination endpoint), a<br />

copy of the packet is encapsulated into a UDP packet, which is then sent to the specified server at the<br />

given IP address and port.<br />

Note The data collecting system at the ip-address on the udp-port must be configured to listen for and capture<br />

the necessary data stream. An IP route to the specified IP address must exist, and IP connectivity to that<br />

device must be present for the traffic to be captured. Before <strong>Cisco</strong> IOS Release 12.1(11b)EC, the data<br />

collecting system must be within two routing hops of the <strong>Cisco</strong> CMTS.<br />

This command can be used to comply with the United States Federal Communications Assistance for<br />

Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) and other law enforcement wiretap requirements for voice<br />
