Organizations in Romania should be encouraged to make reports containing views <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> vision and
business goals, challenges and actions <strong>of</strong> management. We propose for fur<strong>the</strong>r research <strong>the</strong>
development <strong>of</strong> operational parameters in Romania and <strong>of</strong> empirical methodological studies based on
dialogue and dissemination <strong>of</strong> knowledge. We are interested what is <strong>the</strong> perception and awareness <strong>of</strong>
intellectual capital in our country and in particular <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> intellectual capital reporting as
part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> annual statement. This part will be achieved through a case study, completed
questionnaires on <strong>the</strong> perception <strong>of</strong> intellectual capital in organizations in Romania.
Evaluating <strong>the</strong> references from <strong>the</strong> specific literature and considering <strong>the</strong> empirical study we propose
to carry out, <strong>the</strong> evaluation model for intellectual capital to be applied in reducing uncertainty and
increase competitiveness <strong>of</strong> human capital. Considering <strong>the</strong> characteristics <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Romanian
organizational system, should consider <strong>the</strong> arguments for an IC policy based on rate <strong>of</strong> return
analysis, which treats for example expenses with human capital as an investment that boosts
productivity and generates future monetary/non-monetary outflows, and a connection to economic
growth analysis. We consider that policy makers and stakeholders have to be actively involved to
design and monitor IC policy. All have to be subsumed to <strong>the</strong> goal <strong>of</strong> providing valuable information to
managers as well as for o<strong>the</strong>r stakeholders (direct beneficiaries, social and business community,
etc.). Periodical reports on intellectual capital evaluation could be valuable, bringing additional
investments at institutional level. This type <strong>of</strong> research specially dedicated to <strong>the</strong> topic <strong>of</strong> IC & IC
management is quite new for Romanian SMEs. But we consider that it is an important issue to be
developed and applied in our country. We intend to develop our research being involved in cross
disciplinary teams in <strong>the</strong> future.
