5.8.3 Installing CIFX 104C-RE and CIFX 104C-RE-R
To install the
• CIFX 104C-RE Communication Interface PCI 104 and
• CIFX 104C-RE-R Communication Interface PCI 104
handle as follows:
1. Set the physical PCI 104 Slot Number.
‣ Set the physical PCI 104 Slot Number for each CIFX 104C-RE
Communication Interface using the Rotary Switch for PCI 104 Slot
Number on the CIFX 104C-RE.
Note: At maximum four CIFX 104C-RE Communication Interfaces can be
plugged as modules one upon the other and each switch position needs to
be used only once. The module plugged next to the host controller gets
the CLK number 0, the following modules respectively get the next higher
CLK number. For further information refer to section Rotary Switch for PCI
104 Slot Number on page 222.
2. Take safety precautions.
Lethal Electrical Shock caused by parts with more than 50V!
• Disconnect the power plug of the PC or of the connecting device.
• Make sure, that the power supply is off at the PC or at the connecting
device.
3. Open cabinet.
‣ Open the cabinet of the PC or of the connecting device.
Note: If several CIFX 104C-RE Communication Interfaces are to be put
together as modules in a stack, install:
(a.) the first cifX on the mainboard,
(b) any other cifX module on the respective underlying cifX.
4. Install CIFX 104C-RE Communication Interface.
‣ Plug the CIFX 104C-RE into a free PCI 104 slot (or if so, to the
underlying cifX).
‣ Fix the CIFX 104C-RE using 4 spacing bolts and screws intended to the
mainboard (or if so, to the underlying cifX). The scope of delivery does
not include spacing bolts and screws.
