5.4.7 Replacing CIFX 50-RE and CIFX 50E-RE<br />
To replace the<br />
• CIFX 50-RE <strong>Communication</strong> Interface PCI and the<br />
• CIFX 50E-RE <strong>Communication</strong> Interface PCI Express<br />
handle as follows:<br />
1. Fix front plate sticker.<br />
‣ Use the sticker according to the firmware and glue it on the front of the<br />
replacement CIFX 50-RE or CIFX 50E-RE (see section Fix Front Plate<br />
Sticker at CIFX 50-RE and CIFX 50E-RE on page 71).<br />
2. If so, set Slot Number (Card ID).<br />
Important! For replacement CIFX 50-RE or CIFX 50E-RE with Rotary<br />
Switch Slot Number (Card ID) set the same Slot Number (Card ID) as<br />
at the previous <strong>cifX</strong> (see section PCI and PCI Express: Setting Slot<br />
Number (Card ID) on page 67).<br />
Device revisions equipped with a Rotary Switch Slot Number (Card ID)<br />
are listed separately in section Hardware: <strong>cifX</strong> <strong>Communication</strong> <strong>Interfaces</strong><br />
<strong>Real</strong>-<strong>Time</strong> <strong>Ethernet</strong> in Table 2 on page 17.<br />
3. Take safety precautions.<br />
Lethal Electrical Shock caused by parts with more than 50V!<br />
• Disconnect the power plug of the PC or of the connecting device.<br />
• Make sure, that the power supply is off at the PC or at the connecting<br />
device.<br />
4. Remove the connecting cable to the Master or Slave.<br />
‣ Remove the connecting cable between the CIFX 50-RE or CIFX 50E-<br />
RE <strong>Communication</strong> Interface to be replaced and the PC card <strong>Real</strong>-<strong>Time</strong><br />
<strong>Ethernet</strong> Master or Slave.<br />
5. Open cabinet.<br />
‣ Open the cabinet of the PC or of the connecting device.<br />
6. Deinstall CIFX 50-RE <strong>Communication</strong> Interface PCI.<br />
‣ Loosen the CIFX 50-RE.<br />
‣ Remove the CIFX 50-RE from the PCI slot.<br />
7. Install replacement CIFX 50-RE.<br />
‣ Plug the replacement CIFX 50-RE into the vacated PCI slot.<br />
‣ Fix the replacement CIFX 50-RE using the hole intended.<br />
