5.4.7 Replacing CIFX 50-RE and CIFX 50E-RE
To replace the
• CIFX 50-RE Communication Interface PCI and the
• CIFX 50E-RE Communication Interface PCI Express
handle as follows:
1. Fix front plate sticker.
‣ Use the sticker according to the firmware and glue it on the front of the
replacement CIFX 50-RE or CIFX 50E-RE (see section Fix Front Plate
Sticker at CIFX 50-RE and CIFX 50E-RE on page 71).
2. If so, set Slot Number (Card ID).
Important! For replacement CIFX 50-RE or CIFX 50E-RE with Rotary
Switch Slot Number (Card ID) set the same Slot Number (Card ID) as
at the previous cifX (see section PCI and PCI Express: Setting Slot
Number (Card ID) on page 67).
Device revisions equipped with a Rotary Switch Slot Number (Card ID)
are listed separately in section Hardware: cifX Communication Interfaces
Real-Time Ethernet in Table 2 on page 17.
3. Take safety precautions.
Lethal Electrical Shock caused by parts with more than 50V!
• Disconnect the power plug of the PC or of the connecting device.
• Make sure, that the power supply is off at the PC or at the connecting
device.
4. Remove the connecting cable to the Master or Slave.
‣ Remove the connecting cable between the CIFX 50-RE or CIFX 50E-
RE Communication Interface to be replaced and the PC card Real-Time
Ethernet Master or Slave.
5. Open cabinet.
‣ Open the cabinet of the PC or of the connecting device.
6. Deinstall CIFX 50-RE Communication Interface PCI.
‣ Loosen the CIFX 50-RE.
‣ Remove the CIFX 50-RE from the PCI slot.
7. Install replacement CIFX 50-RE.
‣ Plug the replacement CIFX 50-RE into the vacated PCI slot.
‣ Fix the replacement CIFX 50-RE using the hole intended.
