4.2 Configuration of the Slave Device<br />
The following table describes the steps on how to configure a <strong>cifX</strong><br />
<strong>Communication</strong> Interface <strong>Real</strong>-<strong>Time</strong> <strong>Ethernet</strong> (Slave) as it is typical for<br />
many cases. The <strong>cifX</strong> <strong>Communication</strong> Interface (Slave) can be configured<br />
using the netX Configuration Tool. In many cases also the corresponding<br />
DTM in the configuration software SYCON.net can be used.<br />

Windows ® recognizes a new hardware and<br />
requires the device driver, which is on the <strong>cifX</strong><br />
DVD.<br />
Enter the <strong>cifX</strong> DVD in the PC and follow to the<br />
instructions of the installation wizard, to install<br />
the driver.<br />
Activate the DMA Mode in the <strong>cifX</strong> Device<br />
Driver Setup.<br />
(a) using netX Configuration Tool<br />
Start the netX Configuration Tool setup<br />
program to install the netX Configuration<br />
Tool.<br />
In the netX Configuration Tool:<br />
- Select the language,<br />
- Select and download the firmware,<br />
- Set and download the <strong>cifX</strong> <strong>Communication</strong><br />
Interface <strong>Real</strong>-<strong>Time</strong> <strong>Ethernet</strong> (Slave)<br />
parameters.<br />
(b) using SYCON.net<br />
Possibly use the corresponding DTM in the<br />
configuration software SYCON.net.<br />
Run the SYCON.net-Setup and follow to the<br />
instructions of the installation wizard.<br />
- Start configuration software SYCON.net,<br />
-Create new project /Open existing project,<br />
- Insert Slave into configuration,<br />
- Select driver and assign device.<br />
- Select and download the firmware.<br />
-Configure the <strong>cifX</strong> <strong>Communication</strong> Interface<br />
<strong>Real</strong>-<strong>Time</strong> <strong>Ethernet</strong> (Slave).<br />
- Download the configuration to the <strong>cifX</strong><br />
(Slave) *.<br />
(*EtherCAT-Slave,<br />
EtherNet/IP-Adapter (Slave),<br />
Open-Modbus/TCP (Slave),<br />
Powerlink-Controlled-Node/Slave,<br />
PROFINET IO-Device (Slave),<br />
SERCOS III-Slave)<br />
- Rightclick on device symbol.<br />
- Select context menu entry Diagnosis,<br />
- then select Diagnosis > General or<br />
Firmware Diagnosis,<br />
- or select Diagnosis > Extended Diagnosis.<br />
