were struck here. The grands ecus <strong>of</strong> Antoine, 1508-44,<br />

also probably belong to this mint. The Dukes freely imitated here and<br />

Teston <strong>of</strong> Antoine, Duke <strong>of</strong> Lorraine, 1508-44 :<br />

silver.<br />

elsewhere <strong>the</strong> regal types and names even so late as <strong>the</strong> reign <strong>of</strong> Louis<br />

XIV. In 1796 a piece, evidently intended as a pattern for a French<br />

decime, proceeded from <strong>the</strong> foundry <strong>of</strong> one Thuillie. A rare specimen<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Nancy mint is <strong>the</strong> grande plaque <strong>of</strong> Marie de Blois, regent and<br />

Main-bourse <strong>of</strong> Lorraine, 1346-48.<br />

Nantes, a mint <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dukes <strong>of</strong> Brittany in <strong>the</strong> gth c., and an<br />

occasional one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kings <strong>of</strong> France. A Hard <strong>of</strong> Louis XVI., 1787, and<br />

a piece <strong>of</strong> 25 sols struck during <strong>the</strong> siege by <strong>the</strong> Vendeans about 1793,<br />

belong here.<br />
