Setting Up Inventory
Chapter 10 Maintaining Inventory Information
Select the Maintain perpetual check box if it not already selected.
Select the product type’s unit of measure from the Sales Unit of Measure
drop-down menu.
Select the inventory cycle from the Physical inventory cycle drop-down
menu.
Type the default stocking level in the Default Stock Level text box. The
default stocking level is 1. The default stocking level should not be less than the
Default Reorder Point.
Note
• When you add a product to your inventory with the product
type that you selected in step 2, the stock level will be set to the
Default Stock Level.
• Reorders are not processed until inventory drops below the
reorder point. For example, if the Default Reorder Point is 1, the
Default Stock Level is 3, and there is currently 1 on hand,
nothing gets ordered. When the 1 on hand is sold, the quantity
on hand falls below the Default Order Point, and 3 will be order
to get back up to the Default Stock Level.
Type the minimum quantity of the product that you want to have in stock in the
Default Reorder Point (Minimum On Hand) text box. The default
minimum quantity is 1.
Click Print to print the product type information, if desired.
Click OK to close the Product Setup window.
