Young People of the Orlando Church
and their friends on New Year's Eve.
The evening consisted of various party
games which were graciously followed
by a delicious spaghetti dinner. It is well
to be said that at the midnight hour a
period of time was taken from the
games for everyone to participate in a
devotional time of quiet and meditation.
The Fellowship Class of the Orlando
Congregation held their monthly social
at the home of Prof. W. R. and Dr. I.
White. Dr. White is the teacher of this
class. Their meeting of January 21 con
sisted of a business meeting. Before the
evening was brought to a close, the
group was served with refreshments by
the hostess.
The Orlando Congregation was glad
to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Larry Geisen
and their son Robbie home from New
Castle, Wyoming. Mrs. Geisen is the
former Catherine Price.
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dona
hue on January 31 for a turkey dinner
with all the trimmings. After all had had
their fill, the officers for '55 conducted
their first business meeting of the year.
AGED PEOPLE'S HOME
The Perrysville Avenue Women's
Christian Temperance Union met at our
Home on Saturday, January 29. At the
meeting
our Reverend Kermit Edgar
gave a resume of the meeting of the Na
tional Prohibition Council which met in
Washington, and which Reverend Ed
gar attended. All those who attend pro
nounced it an outstanding meeting, and
all went home with an awakened sense
of how desperately
our nation needs
prayers. When other nations request our
country to cease using their ports be
cause of the depredations caused by our
drunken sailors, it is surely time for the
United States to get on her knees. Let
us pray more earnestly for our country.
Mr. Robert Fullerton preached on
Sabbath, January 16, most acceptably
at the Home. The members were so de
lighted with the service.
We are working on the plans for the
addition to our Home a much needed
addition. The Board of Managers, and
the Building Committee
February 16, 1955
request that
you be much in prayer for this project.
It is a tremendous undertaking and a
necessary one, but we cannot "do it
We request that each member
pray at least once a day, and we hope
many times a day, that the Board and
the Committee will be given guidance,
that our Lord will direct us all the way.
What a blessed home we have for our
ageing members and our returned mis
sionaries!
COLLEGE HILL
Dr. and Mrs.
week in Washington, D. C, attending
a meeting of College Executives. Presi
the sessions and Mrs. Lee had the plea
sure and honor of meeting the Presi
dent's wife at one of the women's
meetings.
The passing of Dr. Ida M. Scott leaves
many fond memories in the hearts of
the College Hill congregation. For many
years she was a member of this congre
gation
and whenever opssible helped
with the work here. A number of our
members attended the funeral at
the Aged People's Home, others paid
their last loving
respects at the service
at the grave. The burial was at Beaver
Falls.
Dr. Remo I. Robb gave us a most in
teresting and instructive lecture on the
book of Ephesians after the monthly
Family Night dinner on the 19th of
January.
