Frick, Union City, N. J. The major part
of Mr. Alexander's life-work was devot
ed to the grocery business, in which he
served his Lord as a Christian busi
nessman.
David Alexander was a loyal Cove
nanter. During his years of retirement
he made frequent visits to the homes
of church members and others, encour
aging them to attend the worship serv
ices of God's House. Although he was
crippled by arthritis, made worse by a
fractured hip, he managed to be in his
regular place whenever he could, and
he signed the Brief Covenant in 1954.
His long life of nearly eighty-five years
in the Church is an enduring monument
to the covenant-faithfulness of our Lord.
And in old age when others fade
Their boughs with fruit shall bend;
They shall be hale and hearty still,
Their life in vigor end.
A thought for you :
What's wrong with
YOUR LIFE
the wheel of
Even your closest friend won't tell
you. Well, it's the hub. Let Christ be
the HUB and let yourself take your
rightful place out on a spoke (or even
the rim) and your misery will be
turned to joy
your failure to success.
OUR HOME
Wednesday evening, March 9, Mrs.
Samuel Greer, State Field Worker for
the W.C.T.U., gave a most interesting
and inspiring flannelgraph talk on tem
perance to the folks at Our Home.
On Sabbath April 13, Mr. Armour Mc
Farland preached at the Home. The sub
ject of his sermon was "Prayer." It was
a splendid sermon.
On Wednesday April 16 two represen
tatives from the Women's Auxiliary of
the National Association of Evangelicals
gave fifteen minutes talk on the work of
the women's auxiliary.
This was followed by
the Reverend
Samuel Boyle showing his pictures of
Japan which were exceptionally beauti
ful,
instructive and delightful to our
members. How much they have said
over and over again they
enjoyed this!
On Wednesday evening, March 23,
four of our students from the seminary
272
brought a tape recording
of Reverend
Samuel Boyle's address at the union
service of our three Pittsburgh congre
gations held in the Wilkinsburg church.
Thank you, boys, you cannot realize how
much joy you brought to Our Home.
Again we beg: Won't you in your
private devotions,
and in your organiza
tions, and in your public worship hold up
the Board and Our Home to the Throne
of Grace Pray especially for the Fundraising
Committee that it will be guided
and directed in the preparation of ma
terial, individuals to solicit, and organi
zations whom we might interest. We are
inexperienced in this kind of thing, and
can do nothing without your prayers.
The report given above is cause for great thanksgiving to God!
Should we not accept it as a mandate from God, and from the whole
church that an additional
missionary be sent to Japan at once, and that
the whole program of the church take an advanced step with new cour
age
