page 121 lists J. C. Mitchel as Colorado
Y. P. Secretary. Please note that Rev.
Bruce C. Stewart is the present Cove
nant Heights Y. P. Secretary.
Also please note that it is important
to add the word "South" to my address
at 330 South Corona, Denver 9. In re
cent months a lot of mail has been ar
riving more than 2 months late due to
this error, and some not arriving at all.
away February 27 after a short illness.
He was a long-time and faithful member
of the Board of Deacons. Until moving to
and make him sadly missed by all.
SIX RULES FOR YOUNG
CHRISTIANS
The following rules will be helpful to
any young Christians who care to be
plainly reminded of their everyday du
ties and ideals:
1. Never neglect daily private prayer,
and when you pray remember that God
is present, and that He hears your
prayers (Heb. 11:6).
2. Never neglect daily
private Bible
reading; and when you read, remember
that God is speaking to you, and that
you are to believe and act upon what
He says. Backsliding usually begins with
the neglect of these two rules (John
5:39).
3. Never let a day pass without trying
to do something for Jesus. Every night
reflect on what Jesus has done for you,
and then ask yourself : What am I doing
for Him (Matt. 5:13-16).
4. If ever you are in doubt as to a
thing being right or wrong, go to your
room and kneel down and ask God's
blessing upon it. If you cannot do this,
it is wrong (Rom. 14:23).
5. Never take your Christianity from
Christians, or argue that, because such
people do so and so, therefore you may
do the same (2 Cor. 10:12). You are
to ask yourself:
"How would Christ.
act in my Then strive to follow
Him (John 10:27).
6. Never believe what you feel, if it
contradicts God's Word.
A THOUGHT
Heart and Life
Murmuring is short-sighted. Murmur
ing and disputing is an indication of unfaith.
It means that at this particular
stage of affairs we cannot possibly see
how God is going to bring anything good
out of this or that specific circumstance
about which we are presently exercised.
True, God has blessed us in the past and
all of His dealings have been good. And
true, there is, as a matter of fact, still
time in which even this circumstance
might take a turn for the better. But at
present we are too preoccupied with the
current phase of matters. We do not
have a compelling
conviction that God
is almighty, and that He has the situ
ation in hand, and that He will accom
plish a worthy purpose through this test.
It is like the little mouse who runs
along
a plank in the studio of a great
artist and looks up at an unfinished
painting which is standing there. See
ing the meaningless jumble of color upon
color, of highlights and shades, the little
mouse pronounces judgment and says,
"Well, he certainly made a mess of that
The insolent little creature is not
fitted by his nature to comprehend ulti
mate good in the realm of art, nor is he
willing to allow the talented artist time
in which to demonstrate his solution,
the denouement of his purpose in this
particular artistic situation. Our mur
muring demonstrates a lack of faith in
a mighty and purposeful God. Stephen
W. Paine, in Toward the Mark.
CHURCH AND SKYSCRAPER
Said the Skyscraper to the Little
Brick Church: "You're looking smaller
every day."
Replied the Little Brick Church: "I've
tried to keep close to the feet of
Continued the Skyscraper: "But think
of the progress you could have made if
you had grown up like me and kept pace
with the immence growth of this teem
ing
Said the Little Brick Church: "I've
hearts."
tried to keep up with its broken
"Yes,"
spoke further the Skyscraper,
"but if you were up here you could see
all over the
"But here I can look into the worried
faces that pass."
"Yet you must
voiced the
Skyscraper, "that I represent the
wealth, power and grandeur of modern
civilization."
The Little Brick Church softly re
plied: "But I have created the faith that
held things together; I've given purpose
to the power, and beauty of spirit to
the grandeur."
THE FAMILY ALTAR
Count me as a firm believer in the
family altar. I am
thoroughly convinced
that a wide-spread return to the prac
tice of regular worship in the home
would work miracles in meeting the
many problems of modern life. Let the
family altar become the center around
which life revolves, and we will regain
the spiritual resources so badly needed.
