LOCHIEL
During the past year we have been
privileged to have had two of our mis
sionaries in our midst, Miss Eunice
McClurkin and Miss Orlena Lynn. They
brought their missions so close to us
with their fine reports and delightful
slides.
We are thankful to the Lord that
He has enabled Miss Jennie Jamieson
to return home from hospital much im
proved in health after a very trying
and painful illness.
Miss June Parke and Mrs. Robert
MacDougall of Clydebank, Scotland,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Parke,
morning service Mr. Hutcheson gave an
interesting talk on the mission work in
Latakia, Syria, where he served a threeyear
term as a teacher in the mission
school prior to his induction into the
The birth of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lathom's
creased our cradle roll membership.
We welcome back to our fellowship
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Patterson, who
have spent the winter in Orlando.
Our young people's organizations have
work meeting to fix Christmas cards to
send to the Syrian Mission, and the
C.Y.P.U. celebrated with a St. Patrick's
LOS ANGELES
The session of the LOS ANGELES
CONGREGATION wish to pay tribute
to the memory of our senior elder Ed
win L. Dodds who passed to his Heaven
ly Home on January 8, 1955 at the age
of 82 years.
He was born at Lucerco, Pennsylvan
ia, on March 2, 1873 and came to Los
Angeles in 1910. He was elected elder in
1912 which office he held at the time of
his death.
His faithfulness in attendance at the
house of God was an inspiration to all
who knew him.
He held the office of precentor for
many years and the praise service was
improved because of his leadership.
He was very faithful in his attendance
at our session meetings and his council
will be greatly missed in our delibera
tions.
PORTLAND
On the evening of April 6 the Port
land Congregation had a surprise dinner
at the Thomas Chambers' home in honor
of Miss Elizabeth Knight. Miss Knight
has been very faithful to the Lord and
His Church through the many years of
service she has given to the Portland
Congregation since its beginning in 1911.
Miss Knight came out to Portland
from Evans, Colorado, where she had
been a faithful member and Sabbath
School Teacher. She found we had no
congregation in Portland and so en
couraged Rev. Frazer to come out and
start a Covenanter church in the grow
ing Northwest. Miss Knight then be
came a charter member and a tremen
dous worker in our church. She has
accepted responsibility
that of the average member and has ful
over and above
filled all her duties with utmost care.
Miss Knight is a Deacon, Treasurer of
the congregation and general overseer
of the physical needs of the church.
Mr. Carson presented a Bible to her
on behalf of the congregation. It was a
privilege for us to honor Miss Knight
for her unselfish service. How truly, "He
that is faithful in that which is least is
faithful also in
much"
!
We would like to thank her publicly
and desire for her the Lord's continued
blessing.
